    Starter is the foundation of all sourdough recipes. It's what gives bread and buns their rise.

    Tips for Working with Sourdough

    Sourdough takes longer to rise than recipes made with baker's yeast. So, you need to allow plenty of time in your baking schedule.

    Most sourdough recipes require an active and bubbly starter. So, plan to feed your starter about 6 to 8 hours in advance.

    Temperature matters. Cold temperatures slow down fermentation, while warm temperatures speed it up. So, allow extra time if your kitchen is cold.
