The Real Food Summit – an online conference featuring 27 experts on real and traditional foods – convened this week and is wrapping up with its final presentations this morning. Doctors, farmers, noted authors and bloggers, all convened to discuss the merits and how-to’s of real food.
Joel Salatin of world-renowned holistic ranch Polyface Farms kicked off the summit with a talk that defined real food and analyzed the merits of properly raised animal foods. Jeffrey Smith of the Institute for Responsible Technology discusses genetically modified foods and – more importantly – how to spot them and how to avoid them, while Kaayla Daniel (author of the Whole Soy Story) discusses real and traditional foods in the context of empowering fertility.
I also enjoyed presenting on the subject of fermentation – my favorite art within the realm of traditional foods – discussing the merits of fermented foods, how we left the practice behind not too long ago, and how we can revive the art in our own kitchens. Tonight, I’ll be answering questions live on the Underground Wellness Radio Show, so I hope you tune in to listen.
Did you miss the Summit?
Each presentation during the summit was available for for free for 24 hours before the next presentations were posted, but if you missed the Real Food Summit, you can pick up the take home package of all of 27 presentations (over 20 hours of audio/video and 300 pages of transcripts, plus bonuses) now for $67. Click here to order.
It’s an astounding value, especially considering that live conferences like the Weston A Price Foundation Conference usually cost upwards of $400 and do not include audio/video recordings that you can listen to when it suits you, over and over again if you need to.
the real food summit package
Experts featured in the Real Food Summit answered a stunning array of questions: how to get started with fermentation, why eating fish is still better for you than avoiding it, how fruits have changed through hybridization over generations, what were the characteristics of healthy traditional diets (and why not all traditional societies exhibited exemplary health), how to avoid genetically modified foods, how to eat well during preconception and pregnancy.
There’s 27 presentations covering the merits of real and traditional foods. You can download these presentations to your smartphone, mp3 player, iPad or computer so that you can listen to them whenever it suits you, as often as it suits you.
