You’ll need:
- 1-2 Sausages for Every Person (I used grass-finished Bison Bratwurst)
- 2 Tablespoons Ghee
- 1 Cup Riesling
- 1 Large Head Red Cabbage or 2 Small Heads Red Cabbage, shredded
- 4 Apples, Sliced
- 2 Tablespoons Carraway Seeds
Heat the ghee in a pan over medium heat until melted, and add the sausages and cook until well-browned on all sides. Add the wine. Add the shredded cabbage, sliced apples and carraway seeds. Cook until cabbage and apples are tender and the riesling is reduced to a syrupy consistency. Serve.

Yum – lots of flavors, but very simple to prepare. Perfect!
I’d love to see a vegetarian version of this recipe, as we don’t eat sausage in my family. Thanks!
What can I use instead of wine.
