I had to go look up what “kombucha” was…very interesting! Have you ever drunk kombucha tea?

Nate´s last post: Merry Christmas from House of Annie.

    Hi!

I think that I (myself) am one of your New Additions, because I’ve just found your site on a mission of crucial importance: My good friend has just had a heart attack and is in recovery, and I want to change my eating lifestyle as well, since putting on weight due to bad meds a few years ago, and just for an overall positive health move for both of us.

When I read your earlier title about a Pantry Challenge, I was hoping to find advice on how to Re-Style & Re-Stock my pantry toward a healthy diet that includes less red meat, more poultry-seafood, and lots more healthful everything-else! I love whole grains, but haven’t really been cooking much since my kids grew up, and a lot has changed in healthful eating since then.

What do you think about giving a newcomer comprehensive advice on a pantry/freezer/fridge makeover? I’d love to know!!

Keep up the good work–I’m headed out to get what I need for that luscious Rice Pilaf with Turmeric recipe..mmmmm!

I LOVE kombucha. You should try it – it’s extraordinarily rich in B-vitamins, beneficial bacteria and other goodies. It takes a little getting used to initially. The flavor is something like a cross between apple cider vinegar and club soda – definitely acquired.

    Elizabeth -
I’m glad you found me! While I can’t and don’t offer medical advice particular to any situation, I do post educational articles and wholesome recipes. Your idea for a pantry makeover gives me a lot of ideas for some future posts. Check back for updates to the Traditional Foods Primer as it’ll offer a step-by-step guide to a more wholesome diet. On red meat, we actually eat quite a bit of it in our household and I think it can be a very healthy addition to the diet – provided it’s sourced correctly from grass-fed animals. Whole grains can be a great addition to the diet provided you’re not sensitive to them – but always remember that to get the most nutritional punch from the grain, you should soak, sour our sprout it first. Take care and good luck!
