We’d definitely open the liverwurst! My husband loves liverwurst, I’ve never had it, and I won’t buy grocery-store liverwurst (who knows what went through that liver!).
I would first savor the Summer Sausage. I miss the wonderful Summer Sausage that we got at the State Fair when I was a little girl (nearly 45 years ago!). I have never had any that good since, and I hope that a grass-fed and carefully crafted Summer Sausage would be like what I had back then.

We would definitely dig into the garlic beef franks and pot roast first. I would grill up those yummy garlic beef franks and slather with a deliciously spicy horseradish mustard, served on amaranth bread. I would slow cook the pot roast in my crockpot, on a bed of carrots, onions, and celery and topped with olive oil, fresh tomatoes, sea salt, and black peppercorns. Absolutely mouthwatering!!

The hickory smoked brisket would be a treat – since moving to CA from the south, I have difficulty finding this cut and it’s never smoked unless you do it yourself! Great give-away!

. I’m guessing the bbq beef and garlic franks next. Not that we dont love pot roasts and such, but we eat that a lot and havent had as much of the sausage and similar meats because I’ve had a hard time finding grass-fed natural ones. I would definitely go for the bologna having given it up for years due to not knowing what all those ingredients were on the label. Even if I don’t win the give-away, I’m happy knowing where to buy all natural bologna; slice it thick and grill it, top it with a mustard/horseradish mixture and some chopped onion, fold it up and eat it!

We buy fresh grassfed meats from Sequatchie Cove Farms here in Hamilton County, TN. However, we are never given the option of dogs, sausages, deli meats. What a treat! We would definitely go for those first. I didn’t even know you could buy grass fed deli meats. How wonderful to know this. Because of local availability I’ve never ordered meat online. But, my mother does in the desert of California and says it works well. I may try it, so my husband and I can have better sandwich options. He grew up with deli meat, I did not, and so he has a habit. I am glad someone is providing a healthy choice.

I would love to try the liverwurst! Growing up, my dad would make liverwurst from our own pasture-raised hogs. I really miss it, and once in a while I’ll succumb to the craving and eat some store-bought liverwurst (have not been able to find any grass-fed and/or without nitrates). I always pay with a headache, stomach upset, and mood problems ~ why do I do that?!!

While I’d love to devour ALL of those, I’d probably go for the brisket first! I’m still learning a lot of cooking techniques, so if I’d love to try that brisket braised! My S.O. would definitely go for the salami first, and my kids?? Well…they’ve never tried any before, but I’m thinking they’d love the bologna!

I have e-mailed 5 families (my kids, sister and friend). I hope they enter too! My daughter is seeing an integrative-medicine physician for hormone imbalance, and has been told to eat ONLY grass-fed meat ~ this is to avoid hormones given to animals. She is to eat all organic vegetables in order to avoid zeno-estrogens in pesticides. Zeno-estrogens are chemical mimics of estrogen that can act the same in our bodies, making us estrogen-dominant.

I would love the Garlic Frankfurters! We have a garlic-loving household & my hubby loves some stuffed meats.
Next popular would be the pot-roast. I doubt it would last more than a day in our fridge before we broke out the crock pot & some veggies from our farmer’s market for a delicious dinner!
Oh–we’d be diggin’ those garlic franks first thing, for sure! The Boy would have them out with a pile of crackers and a selection of mustards before I could even look in the box!

As I was growing up, I took for granted the blessing of having our own pasture-raised animals. I never thought I’d see the day when I could barely afford to buy what I used to consider “just regular meat”! In our area, you can get local grass-fed meat, if you’re quick enough! Most sellers do not advertise, and you’re lucky to get on their list as people stay on the lists and buy yearly!

I entered at their site…i was laughing because i went to this amazing pork store on long island which is supposed to be the most authentic and delicious stuff available and i asked them…gee….is this stuff nitrite and nitrate free? and they looked at me like–kid–it ALL has nitrites/nitrates in it–and i was like–nope–no it doesnt…and walked out…us wellness offers some amazing products and as soon as i can, i am placing an order!
Wow! Since I completely took away DH’s hotdogs..he would be all over those first! I, on the other hand, would be all over that brisket! Mmm…brisket…

Entered at the website. The liverwurst would be what I’d try first. I am nearly vegetarian due to problems with digesting meats. I wonder whether grass-fed meats would not cause me problems. Haven’t yet tried to find out. A
Salami would probably be gone before the rest of the meat was out of the box.
While I believe the salami would be the first to be slapped on a loaf of warm homemade bread and sharp cheddar cheese (with homemade pantry pickles <3), I have to say that I would love to get my hands on that pot roast! Its my family's favorite meal item to cook and then savor in different ways throughout the week. On its own with quinoa and onions, then onto a good braised salad with dark greens, more onions, and a citrus spritz, then finally into sandwiches.
Definitely the beef franks! I’ve never eaten liverwurst before, my husband would be happy about that one.

Ok, so even though it’s spring time, and virtually every single item of meat in that list would shine brilliantly as part of the first BBQ of Spring 2010, I have to realistically say that the first item my husband and I would dig in to — and I’m talking IMMEDIATELY — would be the Summer Sausage. We are huge ‘meat, cheese, and crackers’ fans, and are always looking for a good grass-fed or grass-finished (even better!) summer sausage to enjoy with my new favorite raw-milk tomato basil gouda cheese that I found at our local Traditional Foods Warehouse in Minneapolis. This would definitely fit the bill!

I guarantee it would be the summer sausage. My in-laws used to get pastured-fed summer sausage and share it with us. It was a family favorite for simple lunches involving cheese and crackers and fresh fruit.
