I let it sit in room temp for 48 hrs. After the first 24, it was a little fizzy, but after the 48 it wasn't fizzy, & had become "mucousy" so I threw it away. I made it again, & it never got fizzy, but got slightly mucousy again. I went ahead & dramk it. It was good, but the directions said it was supposed to be a "refreshing fizzy drink". What did I do wrong? I think my grains are ok, but maybe not.

I bought some water kefir grains & followed the directions for making the kefir.
