An Open Letter to the Corn Refiners Association & Associated PR Guys

Print Friendly and PDF

Dear Corn Refiners Association and Associated PR Guys,

The Nourished Kitchen is a blog focused strongly on traditional foods and the role that quality nutrition plays in our health and well-being, and, particularly, the health and well-being of our children.   The mission is to provide information to the public on such issues as   nutrition and wellness through the use of the natural foods and dietary patterns that nourished our ancestors throughout human evolution.   Further, the goal of the Nourished Kitchen is   to reintroduce the lost art of preparing nourishing, traditional foods to a modern audience.

As such, I will continue to bring timely information regarding modern foods including high fructose corn syrup and others to my readership.   That news will include health effects, notices of contamination and other issues.

As a resource for a growing community interested in natural and traditional foods, the Nourished Kitchen will not provide an opportunity for the Corn Refiners Association either alone or through their public relations firm to expound upon the “naturalness” of high fructose corn syrup, its culinary uses or what is believed by you to be its rightful place in the human diet.

Further comments from the Corn Refiners Association or persons representing the Corn Refiners Association will be held for moderation and summarily deleted.   The community that I work hard to create here at the Nourished Kitchen   is not a sounding ground for your association, nor is it an opportunity for you to whitewash your deservedly tarnished image on my dime.

Thank you,

Jenny

The Nourished Kitchen

And a note for my readers: Am I the only one that finds a new comment from CRA’s PR firm every time she posts about high fructose corn syrup?

Actually, you could allow them to comment, and then use their comment as a sounding board to disagree with their statements. Instant controversy!

I swear they are paying someone to read and respond to blogs all day. It’s scary how they are trying to manage people’s perceptions about hfcs.

“It’s ok in moderation” but it’s in almost EVERYTHING. Hard to get moderation when that’s the situation.

  10. Anita says:

My how scared you are of anyone with a differing opinion on HFCS! You lambast them for having an agenda, yet it is perfectly clear that you have one as well. I see nothing wrong with both sides of a discussion being allowed to share their information so that the people whom it affects are able to form their own opinions. You do not need to “protect” us from hearing what the other side has to say.

  11. Jenny says:

    Anita -

Thanks for your comment.  It’s always refreshing to hear from someone with such a unique perspective.  The Nourished Kitchen does, indeed, have a goal and that is to promote health and wellness through traditional whole foods.  High fructose corn syrup doesn’t make the grade.  The Corn Refiners Association has millions of dollars to promote their product; however, that promotion does not need to take place on my website. My purpose isn’t to “protect” you; rather, it is to continue meeting the goal I set when I began Nourished Kitchen.  If you would like read differing perspectives, I’d recommend a google search or you can continue to slurp mercury-laced soda pop while watching Sweet Surprise commercials on TV.

    Take Care of yourself -

    Jenny
